Here's a list of nice events. The ones marked with a are the events where you can see me in action as I'll be present.

NK (AKA Dutch Championships)
6/9/2008 - 7/9/2008,  Scheveningen, Holland

Back Home
1/9/2008, Noordwijk, Holland
After spending a month in Knokke, Belgium it was time to go home again. The time there was awesome. Teaching a bit, Hanging with friend a bit and making new friends... The weather on the day of my return in Noordwijk was generous as there was nice wind and a good amount of sunshine to play! Hopefully this weekend is the Dutch Championships as there weather forecast looks promising, but that can all still change.

Getting there
6/8/2008, Knokke, Belgium
After getting back from The Gorge I did a lot of thing! We hit the cable park a few times and got a slider and kicker fever from it, but it was awesome! Did a couple of clinics for Q-music (NL) and went to some private concerts with no more then 100 people. A couple of days ago I arrived in Knokke, Belgium to give some lessons and hang around a little bit. I also have two clinics planned with Q-music Belgium and going to be in the jury for the MOËT Cup which is held right here in Knokke. For tomorrow there is a N.E.R.D. concert on my way so we'll see how that is going to end

The Gorge Games continues
20/7/2008, Hood River, Oregon
With a day off we desisted to go up to Mount Hood for some snowboarding. The snow was nice and soft. After we got some down hill action we went down to the sandbar for some kiting action. I mean now we can say we snowboarded and kited on the same day and I think that its pretty cool to say. Skippers meeting today was at 8:30 for the Big Air contest. The wind wasn't that great at first but got better as the event went on. I was on my 9m2 all day and was perfectly lit. My boosting skills got me up on the podium on the 3rd place as I lost from Alvaro Onieva. So pretty stoked with the podium. I got a couple of things I want to do here like mountain biking and kite some different spots. Now the comp is over I got some time to do those things.

The Gorge Games
18/7/2008, Hood River, Oregon
I had a good session on my 9m2. I really like this place! it's nice and windy, sunny and the people are cool. The skippers meeting for the contest was at 8:30 am. I got my kites sorted out and pumped up my 9m2 and 7m2. The wind was a bit fluky and up and down. So I ended up pumping my 11m2 just incase. I didn't need it though. I ended up just using my 9m2 as I would be lit and underpowered on every kite and the 9m2 is the nice size. I lost against Damien LeRoy and got 5th as there were only singles. I had a super nice kite session after the contest was done and the wind got steadier. Tomorrow we have a break so we had a good idea to go snowboarding in the morning and then go kiting in the afternoon. Then on Saturday there is the Big air and we'll see how that is gonna go.

Arriving in Hood River
16/7/2008, Hood River, Oregon
After the Jack Johnson concert in Den Haag we had a long flight the next morning from Amsterdam through LA to Portland, but we made it. Trying to rent a car is not as easy as it seems and we ended up renting a U-Haul van. We started driving towards the town Hood River and when we arrived the town was pretty small for the amount you hear about it, but nonetheless it's a super nice town. We met some people and ran in to some people we already knew. The first session was on my 11m2 and was pretty mellow. The spot is awesome here and can't wait to go out again. The backdrops here are insanely pretty. With a snowy Mount Hood in the background.

Back home
12/7/2008, Noordwijk
When the doubles came up I had long ways to go. So I could fix my leash as it broke in the semi finals. The wind wasn't as steady as the day before. I went out a little bit before I had to go put up a show. It was perfect for my 9m2. The wind went a little flukey on us the heat before the second and third place. So we had a little break. It didn't take too long for the wind to pick back up. So they started the comp again. I put up my 11m2 during the heat before mine and it was perfect so I stayed out. 1 min before the heat the wind picked up a good amount and I was well overpowered, but I knew if I would change my kite it would only cause stress, so I stuck with it. I lost this heat and went on to my 9m2 for my second chance. I was powered perfect and was doing well the first half of the heat and the other guy was crashing everything, but in the second half of the heat it turned and I was crashing my tricks. I don't know why, but I guess I wanted to do everything to fast when I had the time. I unfortunately lost this heat and became second which is also pretty satisfying. I stayed a bit longer and got my PADI open water diving license which was a cool experience.

1st after the first elimination
22/6/2008, Paros, Greece
After getting in on Paros I chilled with George. He is the event organizer and a good friend. We did the single elimination. I got to start in the second round already as I was ranked in the top 8. We started of and when I had my heat I was on a 11m2. The wind was good and I passed on to the quarter finals. They stopped after the second round and called it a day. The next day we had course racing on the program. I was really stoked with that as I like it a lot! We did a test run and it was about 6 min course which was perfect for multiple races. We started at 1 o'clock together with the live television. I guess I did pretty well as i finished 4th in the first race. The second race was a different story though. I was on the 5th position and about to get 4th again, but my nose dove and I lost my board and saw a bunch of people pass me. After the course racing there was a hangtime contest. I took a 12.5m2 Flexifoil ION3 and boosted a massive time of 7.35 sec. This was also the winning time! so that will be my first podium place for the event. The freestyle continued the next day. There was live TV again and I took out my 7m2 in the quarter finals. I was pretty lit and I won this heat and was stoked, because worst I could get now was 5th. In the semi finals I had Antoine Auriel who was killing it, but I had the favorite of the judges in that heat and went on to the finals against Leander Vyvey. The wind dropped a bit, but was still good for my 7m2. As they did the podium for the live TV the called Miguel Willis for 3rd place and Leander Vyvey for 2nd so that meant I was first and won the Singles. Super stoked and hope to keep my first place in the doubles. For now I'm going to have a nice chill.

Time to move on
15/6/2008, St Thomas, USVI
After some of the last kite sessions and a nice surf session it's time to move on. I took a flight from St Thomas to Atlanta where I spend the night. I'm waiting for my flight to Athens, but as I'm on standby I don't know if i'm going to make the flight! If not I'll try to get there an other way or day. I will report back when I'm in Greece and let you guys know if I made it or I had a mission.

Good times
28/5/2008, St. Thomas, USVI
The wind has been good to us! We also did a protest to safe the reefs and the beaches on the islands... what we did was snorkel the reef and put buoys next to every endangered coral we saw and then we took an areal shot of it. The next morning we had 15 min to leave the house and get to the hanger to go to the BVI's to kite. Unfortunately there was not much wind, but we still had a blast. I saw a little baby shark and luckily I didn't see it's mother. On the way back we flew over the BVI music festival where Damian Marley was preforming. Looked cool from the sky, but we couldn't land anywhere near so we went back to the USVI to wake up to another windy day! We kited an other spot this time. They call it the laguna and it's close to the marina.

Nice winds!
24/5/2008, St. Thomas, USVI
We got back from St Croix and ran some errands and chilled for the day. The next day we packed up the helicopter and flew to the BVI (British Virgin Islands). We landed right on the kitespot got out and pumped our kites. The wind was stronger then in St Croix and the 13m2 was perfect. When we all were done with kiting we loaded up the helicopter to fly back to St. Thomas. The next couple of days I kited perfect on my 11m2 at the Ritz Carlton beach. Which is a bay with onshore winds, but when it comes in... it's such a nice spot. Kiting in crystal clear water and seeing turtles popup every now and then. Today the wind is up again! So we're going to see where we are going now.

Arriving in paradise.
22/5/2008, Virgin Islands
I flew on a standby ticket from Amsterdam to Atlanta. At the checkin I had to pay a bit for my boardbag, but it was all good. When I got my seat at the gate it was 5F and that means business class for 9 hours.
It was my first experience with this class and I can get used to it . I had to overnight in ATL and the next morning I went to checkin and I knew that I had a slim chance to make the flight as it was full. I rerouted through San Juan, Puerto Rico. I got there and somebody was waiting for me with a small plane that was going to St.
Thomas. About 45 min. later we landed on the airport. I went to pickup my bags and got situated. The next day we just chilled a bit in the morning and then went surfing for a few hours. it was a nice session with head high waves.

Then next morning we had to be at the hanger no later then 7:45 AM as we were going to St Croix for an over 40 soccer match where Nicolas had to play in. It was a couple of islands coming together for this tournament. We didn't go only for the soccer of course. Madison and I took the car and checked out the island. We came past a so many sick potential kitespots. To bad we didn't have wind that day. After a good night sleep we went to a secret spot. There was a little bit of wind and we met up with Bill Craft. The wind was light but we still went out. I was on a 13m2 hadlow pro a bit underpowered, but the spot was so sick that it was fun no matter what. It's going one of the best spot i've kited. Now i'm back on St Thomas and this whole week should be windy!

Final France update
11/5/2008, St Gilles Croix de Vie, France
The course racing was giving the green light to start. After the skippers meeting we pumped up and get ready for a race to the finish. After the the start flag went up we all raced to the first buoy. I was 5th when we came to the first buoy. Then the guy who was 1st at that moment turned around the first buoy and the everyone in front of me followed. As I continued to go to the second buoy the gab was getting bigger and bigger. As I rounded the second buoy and crossed the finish line first. They canceled that race, because the flag person messed up the flags and people where complaining. So I thought ok well... better luck next time! Then we went for another round and we went out earlier to go up wind a bit to have a good start position. As time went on and it was getting cold. I and a couple of other people were tired of waiting as we not really could see the flags. We went to do the course and went we all rounded the first buoy and went on to the second buoy, but we couldn't find it so we headed back to the beach and we were told that they had some problems with the buoys and the boat so that we had to wait a little bit... I was so cold and over waiting that I packed up and went to take a nice hot shower. They did a best trick comp after the course racing. There was hardly any wind left. As for the other days it was sunny and warm till the end of the event!

Competition started
30/4/2008, St Gilles Croix de Vie, France
Skippers meeting was at 7AM and we all had to be there. I guess they're getting more serious as it might go olympic in a few years. To save time they came up with a new rule: the top 8 will advance to the second round. As I am in the top 8 I got to go to the second round. When my heat came up slow I pumped up my 7m2. When I went out to try it I couldn't even hold an edge. So I borrowed a 5m2 Atom from one of the other Flexifoil team riders. As this was the first time in my life on a 5m2 it was not what I'm used to and I felt like a girl doing my heat. The 5m2 is not my thing. I had to take it out one more time as I advanced to the quarter finals. Getting a little bit more feeling in the 5m2 was nice, but it was not enough to advance to the semi finals. They heat after me got canceled due to heavy rainfall and even stronger gusts. As I came back in the hotel room I looked up what the wind speed was and it was easily 8BFT (35knt). I learned that taking out a 5m2 is not good for your ego.

Wave event kicked off the next morning after they finished the Freestyle. I was in the first round and took out a surfboard with straps and a 9m2 Atom as the wind died down a bit compared to yesterday. It was hard to get out to the back due to onshore wind and a lot of white water from the 3,5m2 waves. I manage to get through the first round as I came second in my heat. I advanced to a very difficult heat with people whom basically lived in waves. I got Mitu from Cape Verde and Nono from the Dom. Rep. in my heat. I struggled with getting out in the back and destroyed some waves, but it was nothing compared what they were showing. They advanced and I got to take a nice hot bath as it is freezing cold. I mean if it is hailing you can say it's cold right? Luckily I brought my 6/5/3 wetsuit and all my winter stuff was still in the car as well. So the DR boys were stoked that I was out of the running as I gave them gloves booties and my mystic team jacket to keep them a bit warm. Tomorrow they'll start the course racing which I'm looking forward to.

Arriving at the KPWT France
27/4/2008, St Gilles Croix de Vie, France
After a lot of km asphalt and killing about a million flies with the windshield we made it to the beautiful St Gilles Croix de Vie. We checked in the hotel and upgraded the room right away. Paying €5 more is worth a better smell and a pimp balcony! Organizing the room and choosing the bed was a piece of cake. Checking the spot was pretty fun as well as we look out of the window. it was a bit chilly after being in the blistering sun (behind a glass window). The waves looked nice and the forecast as well. Tomorrow will be the registration and a change to see all the riders again and say hi. The wind for tomorrow looks good so maybe we'll have a training session as well.

Holiday in Egypt
7/4/2008, Hurghada
When I got back from Venezuela I went to Egypt the day after for some vacation. We had some good wind in Hurghada. The sad thing was that due to the full moon the sandbank was under water and only showed up the day we left. We still had a blast, but 8 days was more then enough for me.

Venezuela update
15/3/2008, Isla Coche, Venezuela
After we touched down in Porlamar airport we took the taxi to go to El Yaque. We wanted to stay there for the night, but the hotel was full so we took the boat already to Isla Coche. We checked in at the hotel and got situated. The first couple of days the clouds took over the blue skies and with that the wind got a bit gusty. I got my new kites and was stoked to use them!! At first I had to get used to them a little bit, because I've been off c-shapes for a while. I loved the kites with the first touch though! After a couple of days I got to know them and I now know for sure that I missed the C-shape even more then I thought I did... The weather is getting better... We got some productive footage hours and we got the angles for the camera's down, So we can shoot it pretty fast!! The only thing is we have to start shooting early and we can only go on until the lunch break, because of the sun. Overall I'm pretty happy with what we got so far...

Time to go home
20/1/2008, St. Thomas, USVI
After some more snorkeling, chilling on the beaches, kiting, surfing, boating and flying the helicopter its already time to go home. We had a great last session on "Sandy Spit" a little tiny island of "Jost van Dyke" we got some killer shots there with beautiful backdrops and nice blue water. At the end of the session we loaded up the Bertram and headed back to St Thomas, but Madison and I didn't go on the boat yet. We followed them downwind. After .... miles and .... hours father we saw a nice beach to land on. Now it's time to pack up all the stuff and go back to the cold! We paid $40 for someone to check us in and take care of our bags. Within 10 min it was all arranged and we were sitting in the terminal and we didn't have to pay excess luggage or stand in line, so I think thats a $40 well spend.

Just another week in paradise
10/1/2008, St. Thomas, USVI
The week started of great. After Madison flew us in the helicopter (with duals) to the airport in Virgin Gorda. I got to fly it to the drop off point and that already made the day. The wind picked up a little bit and I went out and was perfectly powered on my 12.5 ION3. The day after we kited at Lindquist beach on St. Thomas. The wind died a bit and then picked up again so I went out and got worked. The day after we went to be tourists at "The Baths" on Virgin Gorda in the BVI only this time we didn't bring the duals. The surf came up a little bit and we ripped Hull Bay on St Thomas and after we surfed we fixed the Wakeboard boat and took that out in dead flat and glassy Lindsberg bay. We drove down the next day to go for another session, but then we heard that there were little waves breaking at "little Hans Lollick" (a little island just in front of St. Thomas, so we took a boat and half an hour later we were surfing these little chest high waves and we had a lot of fun until the sun said it was enough and went down.

US/B Virgin Islands
3/1/2008, St. Thomas and BVI
I came in at night and they lost one of my bags, but when I went to declare it. They already knew where it was and it came the next morning. Luckily my clothing bag made it. The next day the wind was up a little bit and I took out my 15m2 on a gorgeous beach called Lindquist , but the wind just missed 2 knots. So we just chilled on the pink sand and in the azure blue water. Then wind died the next day, but there was surf coming in and I took my new surfboard out for a ride and in the last wave my fin cut right in between my toes so I needed to get my first 5 stitches. The rest of the week I did some errands and chilled a bit on the beaches. We celebrated X-mas and now we are in the British VI where we already had an awesome surfing session and a sweet kiting session.

After a great week with wind and surf I'm back in the St. Thomas. We did a sweet and long down winder, with nice waves, dry reef and flat water. I also did a nice up winder to the mangroves where it was super shallow but super flat! jumping over them and not seeing the water anymore because it is so clear. On the way down I saw some awesome turtles and little fish. The last day I went outside the reef and got slingshotted 10 meters off my board, because I hit a ray, shark or other big fish and the best thing was now laying in the water. I had to get back to my board. Good thing the fish was more scared then I was and it had vanished. After a little 2 hour boat ride we where back on St. Thomas.

Brazil Final
8/10/2007, combuco, Brazil
KPWT Update.

My heat in the waves went pretty well, They shortened it to 8min heats and 2 min transition and only the best 2 waves count. I had 1 good wave and then I couldn't find a perfect roller any more. The other guy was ripping I guess cause he passed. After my heat I went straight down to the laguna and had an awesome session on the new Atom08 9m2. That night there was suppose to be a party so I went to check it out, but after kiting all day and having to kite the next day. I left at 11 oclock cause there was still nobody there.

The following morning I could sleep in a little bit as they're finishing the waves. In the afternoon they started the course racing and it was sick, cause there where 49 competitors. It was cool to see everybody lined up and start. My start went pretty well and after the first lap I was 5th and holding position. Nobody passed me, but I gained up a lot on the person in front of me. He came over the finish line 10 sec. before me and that made me 5th. I'm pretty stoked with that knowing a lot of people where on surfboards and I just used my old trusting Brunotti twintip. At night there was the best party and I went to check it out, but it took me again way to long for it to get started and after the course racing my legs where so stiff. So I went home around 1.30 to get a good night of sleep.

After the competition the wind picked back up and I had a few good/ fun days on the Lagoon. I landed some new stuff and worked on even newer tricks. I had a pretty good flight home for some cold fronts hitting Holland. So perfect timing.

KPWT Brazil
5/10/2007, Combuco, Brazil
First days.

Yesterday was a pretty long day of traveling. I had to get up in Holland at 4 am and I went to bed in Brazil at 11 pm with 5 hours time difference. I slept pretty well though. I just woke up a little bit early, because of the time difference. I think I was one of the first ones up and that is rare. The rooms here at Wind Town are super sweet! my room has ocean view.

The kite day started with putting my board together, changing my lines and centre line. Then I waited a bit and went to town to get some water. When I got back I pumped up my 7m2 and went out on the water. I stayed in front of the hotel for a little while and then went down wind to the laguna. On my way there the waves where so nice. I shred those babies to pieces and ripped them apart. When I started to trick in the laguna it was for a short while, because my leash broke and had a good swim. I borrowed an other leash and after a couple of tricks that leash went open. So I called it a day and had a coconut. But after all I had a pretty good day. For dinner we went to this restaurant called 0031 and the food there was delicious.

When I finished breakfast today I got a super nice massage in the spa that's at the hotel. Let me tell you... that massage is the best I ever had! When the wind steadied out I went downwind to the laguna on my 7m2, but half way the wind died a bit and I was underpowered. I still had a bit of fun trying some stuff when a gust came. We drove back in one of those beach buggies and went a bit off road into the dunes. It was so sick back there. Tonight is thai night so I'm going to enjoy the food tonight a lot!

Competition kicked off!

Skippers meeting was at 9 o'clock so that was pretty good. When my heat was up I had to go against Tom Court and when the blue flag came up the wind dropped and I was super underpowered on my 7m2... he took a 9m2 so he had a more power to do his tricks. He advanced and I have to wait for the doubles, but first we're having the waves tomorrow morning. It's going to be the first time for me competing in a wave contest. I think it's going to be fun. although the waves aren't really super good, but we'll see what it'll bring us!

Today we started with the wave event and I thought why not try it... so did 50 other guys though. I went out into the kind of mushy waves with my double 07 with the fins only on the tail. I had good fun in my heat and I even made it to the 3rd round where we stopped to go back to the freestyle. In the freestyle I went out with my 10.5 ION2 and I was perfectly powered until my heat started and I couldn't really stay upwind so I had to run back over the beach. My component was a little brazilian, one of the local boys that rip. He was so light that he could stay upwind so he could do more tricks then I could and he won the heat. So for the freestyle this wasn't quit my event. The wind disappointed me a lot here these last 2 days. But o well Cest la vie and I'll focus on the rest of the disciplines for the overall ranking.

3rd KPWT France
29/8/2007, Dunkerque, France
After waiting a lot and starting the speed crossing and slider comp, just because there wasn't enough wind to start the doubles. I'm happy to finnally get on the podium. it's the lowest step, but it's a step up.

Next up is Brazil so we'll se how that goes!

KPWT France
22/8/2007, Dunkerque, France
Today was the first day of competition and it was nuking. I was overpowered on my 7m2 and did some heats I went all the way to the semi's and I lost against Sebastian Garrat, so I had to go for 3rd and 4th place and I got 3rd place. I'm super stoked with that, cause it's my first podium place! The wind for tomorrow and the days after look horrible. 5 knots, but nice and sunny! so we'll see what the rest of the week will bring us.

www.kiteboardpro.com/france2007.htm

KPWT Morocco
10/8/2007, Essaouira
After a good night of sleep we woke up without any wind. Nothing much was happening on the beach. So we went to the left of the competition area to ride some of the camels. It was good fun for a no wind day. There was no wind for the next day either. So the skippers meeting was at 12. We chilled a bit went in town again and bought some chameleons at the fish market, but not to keep them, but to give them their freedom back. They where pretty cool for the time being.

The next morning the was wind on the forecast so we had to get up early. After the skippers meeting we got pretty much started right away. I won my first heat against Dansin (Fra) and moved on to the second round where I met up with Vincent Tiger (Fra) and I moved on to the quarterfinals. My next opponent was Joujou (Fra). I pretty much had the french army after me. I had a pretty good heat and I won. For the first time in my life I was in the semi finals, so I was stoked already, but we had to postpone the competition till the next morning, because the sun was to low and was blocking the view of the judges.

So the next morning we were up very early to do the rest of the single elimination. I had my heat against Sebastian Garrat the current world champion and leader for the time being. My heat went pretty good, but not good enough and he advanced into the finals. I now had to battle for the 3rd and the 4th place and my opponent was Tom Herbert (NC). My heat didn't really go according to plan and I lost and had to take enough with 4th place. In the doubles Florian Daubos came all the way up and I had to battle with him for 4th and 5th place. I won against him so I kept my 4th position and had to go head to head with Tom Herbert again for 3rd and 4th place. We both didn't had a very good heat on our 7m2, but he did a little bit better then I did and he advanced.

1 Sebastian Garrat (RRD)
2 Antoin Auriol (Kiteloose)
3 Tom Herbert (airush)
4 Sander Lenten (Flexifoil)

I didn't compete in the wave masters the next day, cause I'm to young for that still, but I took a nice day off and let my body rest a bit for the speed crossing. I took the new Atom2 9m2 and that was a pretty good choice. We did 2 races. In the first round I got 6th and in the second round It was a photo finish and I just got 3rd instead of 2nd. So with the points added up I just went kicking against the podium again!

Morocco
4/8/2007, Essaouira
I set my alarm for 5:30am to leave the house by 6 to drive down to Paris Orly, but my phone was still on Turkish time so an hour earlier. We woke up at 4:30 instead of 5:30. We were up any way so we started driving. It went pretty smooth almost the whole way. We only hit a little bit of traffic, but once there we parked the car and took the bus to terminal south. Something went wrong with the credit card payment so we had to stand in line at the ticketing desk to pay our flight and OMG that woman was so slow it was unbelievable. When we finally paid we could checkin our bags. There was no line so that was nice. We didn't have to pay anything extra so that was nice and we had a straight flight so that was nice as well. When we touched down we sprinted to immigration, cause I know on small airports there is not a lot of people working there. We where third in line so we got through pretty fast, but then we had to wait for Clinton and Pepe. When they finally got through we took a taxi to the hotel with the competition area right there. First settling down in the hotel and then up to registration. The wind was pretty strong and I heard it was pretty gusty as well. The next morning skippers meeting was at 9am, but the wind did not show up. We went a little down the beach and saw these camels and what is going to morocco without riding on a camel, right? It was pretty cool. For today the forecast doesn't look to good either, but we'll see what the wind does...

Competition is finished
29/7/2007, Burc Beach, Istanbul, Turkey
Competition is finished

The wind for the double elimination was not as they predicted, but there was a good breeze. I had to go on my 15m2. There was a lot of current and not that strong wind, so it was hard to stay in the competition area. My heat didn't go that well and I lost it. In the freestyle I ended up 9th, I was super angry on myself, but there was nothing I could change any more... So ce la vie, right. So after diner there was a great party there where not that many people, but the ambiance was good and the music was ok.

Speed crossing was on the menu for today. We did to runs, so we would have 3 results. 1 from the first day and 2 from today and you could discard one of them. In the first one of the day I started as last, but I worked my way up the field. I was in 3rd position and I could smell the finish, but then my kite went in the water and I got past by 1 person so I got 4th in that race. The second race went pretty good I waited for everybody to go, because it was pretty hectic at the start with everybody tangling. In this one I ended 5th. So I was pretty stoked. overall in the speed crossing I got 4th place together with Sebastian Garrat. So we had to split the €0,- of price money the 4th place gets. I'm ready to get out of hear and prepare for Morocco

Wind is picking up!
27/7/2007, Burc Beach, Istanbul, Turkey
Yesterday we had to wake up at 6:30 to go to the Bospheres river and we got there it looked a little bit sketchy, but one by one we went out. To do the freestyle there was impossible so we did the hangtime Sebastian garrat won with 7'24 seconds. I got 11th with 4'91 seconds. I never been that overpowerd though. I was on my 12m2 and I couldn't edge any more. After getting out of the dirty river we went to a gym to do some refreshing. In the gym we could play some B-ball do some snowboarding and everything else that you expect from a gym. After doing a couple of those thing we went to relax a bit in the sauna and showers. While we where changing we saw ourself kiting on the 7 o'clock news. We got all pimped with a Jim Beam collard shirt for diner and a little party. The diner was super nice and the party was ok, but after that long day I just wanted to go to my bed, but that only happened at 1.

Today we started the freestyle at 11. The wind was super nice for 9m2 and the sea looked like My homespot, except for the color. Because I had a buy I only had to start in the 2nd round. So that gave me enough time to get ready. I went out for a free ride session before the competition started and it was so nice! I was perfect on my 9m2. When my heat started I went out and I guess I'm a little bit like a diesel engine I start up slow, but once I'm started I'm hard to stop. until I came against Mickael Fernandez, cause he took me out. That means I'm 5th for the moment in the single elimination. Tomorrow they are going to start the doubles. The forecast looks the same as today so that is good!

No wind!
25/7/2007, Istanbul, Turkey
The last couple of days been no wind. The good news is that I got my boardbag in. Yesterday we drove to Istanbul and the traffic here is insane. Were on the road for 15 min. and we saw a flipped over car and a driver that wanted to pass a truck but then saw us in a big bus... so he braked pretty hard on flew into his own lane. Nearly hitting the truck he flew off the road and came onto a stop in the field. After arriving we went to see the Blue Mosk. It was so peaceful and the architecture was insane. We went to diner after and had a party on top of a building. The view was insane. It was right next to a hotel... and it was about bed time so we saw everybody change for bed. It was pretty funny! It doesn't really look like there is going to be wind today... but the forecast for tomorrow looks good! when we go to kite in the River that connects the Mediterranean and the black sea.

Back to Business
23/7/2007, Istanbul, Turkey
Everything went super well... I only had to pay €50,- for my boardbag. The rest went all smooth, the flights were nice. So everything was ok until I came to the baggage belt. My clothing bag came in, but my boardbag didn't. The people in the office said just wait in front of the oversized luggage doors for 10 min. So I waited 10min. Nothing. I went up there and said ok 10 min passed... ok it's coming now. just wait there for a while. So I waited and waited... Then Clinton came when his plane landed after an hour. His boardbag didn't show up either. So we made the lost baggage claim and they found clintons bag, but they didn't know where my bag was. So after calling and calling it might come tomorrow morning at 9. so lets hope that I get my boardbag in time. There was no wind for today, so that was my luck! We did the drawing and some beach V-ball after that we took some portrait pictures with Carlos. I got lucky because there's only 25 guys, so I got a buy to the next round. At the press meeting we had to go onto a couple of tables and we counted 3.2.1. and then the tables broke and we all fell. nobody got seriously injured. tomorrow the skippers meeting is at 12pm.

Holidays
19/7/2007, Paros, Greece
On the 9th I flew from Brussels to Athens and met up with Charlotte and Madison. That night we spend in a hotel near the port to catch the High Speed 3 ferry to Paros. We came into Paros after 3 hours on the ferry. When we got off the boat Constantine was waiting for us already. So we put the stuff on the car and drove down to the dive center where we chilled a bit and then I went down with 1 of the owners to pick up a car we could use for our time being here. After checking the beach we borrowed some gear to go snorkeling, but first we went down to the port again to get one of those nice gyros wraps. We met up with Gorge again and ask what a nice place was to go snorkeling. He made a phone call and we could go with the divers to this beautiful place.

The next morning the wind was south and a bit gusty, but at least we got to kite on 12m2. After having an ok session we went out to dinner with Gorge and Constantine. During the night the wind switched directions and came from the North now. It still wasn't quit strong, So we had to take out the twelves again. When we got to the beach the next day it picked up so much. We had to go out on our 7m2 Madison even took his 4.5m2. In the mornings it was lighter so we tried to get there early and practice some tricks... While in the afternoon we just went Massive.

On Mday we got picked up from Paros and went over to Mykonos for the last day. When we got out of the airport. We drove down to the hotel. When we pulled up the hotel looked sweet. When we got into the room it looked even sweeter. Everything in there was white and looked very peaceful. After a nice diner and a super sweet night of sleep we went down to one of the many beaches. The wind was off shore and to sketchy to kite. So we just had a chill day. Madison and I went to search for cliffs to jump from and I've never ever seen so few straight people. When we found a little cliff I jumped to see how shallow it was. When I came out of the water the girls showed up and jumped. It wasn't to high so we were over it pretty fast. We had a nice dinner in town with everyone. In the morning we got dropped off at the airport and because we were with 7 people checking in we didn't have to pay anything although all together we had 30 kg overweight. Later we started boarding and 30% of the luggage couldn't come on the plain. After a McD stop in Athens we flew on to Brussels.

Last days
1/7/2007, Colico, Italy
I was in the first heat of the day... I was perfect on my 15m2 until the heat started and the wind picked up. When the heat was over I had a good feeling about it and I won. So I moved on and was against Victor Borsuk again. Who made it all the way up from the first round. When we started my lines where tangled and people where helping me, but the best thing was that Victor was waiting for me to go on the water. So after the first tack I started my tricks, but I was a bit stressed out from the lines being tangled. It was a split decision and he past. The top of the ladder looks like this:

1st Sebastian Garat (FRA)
2nd Tom Hebert (NC)
3rd Florian Daubos (FRA)
4th Victor Borsuk (POL)
5th Espocito (ITA)
6th Sander Lenten (NED)

This Morning I registered to test a motor bike, but because of the party I missed it. I asked if there was any space open and I could go in 30 min. So I got there and we where riding on these Buell Lightning 1200cc pimped out bikes. We did a little half an hour tour and I'm hooked. It was so nice the speed and the acceleration was just insane! After I got back we did the hangtime contest and now we're waiting for the price ceremony!

Comp day 3
29/6/2007, Colico, Italy
The MotoX was sick so check the pix gallery

Today they finished the the singles and the podium after the singles looks like:

1e Sebastian Garat
2e Tom Hebert
3e Florian Daubos

They also continued with the doubles. At the end the wind dropped a lil bit and got a little bit gusty. When my heat was up I had to go against Antoine Auriol in the fourth round. When they finished the fourth round they did one more ladies round and then they called it a day. We had to wait for the result so we first had a BBQ. After the BBQ we went down to get an ice cream for desert and past in front of the official notice board. I saw that I had won the heat and I'm up against Mitu Monteiro. Because the had finished the women's round, I'll be the first one to go on the water tomorrow!

Comp day 2
28/6/2007, Colico, Italy
The wind started to pick up again today, but not as strong as yesterday and like yesterday it was full of holes. I took out my 15m2 and had a better heat then I had the first day. It was enough to pass to the quarter finals. Where I met Tom Hebert from new caledonia. When they started the quarter finals the wind died and they canceled the heat. So we where all just chilling a bit. Until the wind picked up a little bit again. It was sometimes enough and sometimes it wasn't but they still ran the heats. When my heat was up the wind was good but when the heat started it was so light. Finally I lost the heat and Tom moved on to the semi final! They did 2 more heats after that and then they called it a day! Tonight is the MotoX show. That's gonna be sick! I will take some pictures and I'll put it in my pic gallery somewhere tomorrow!

Competition kicks off
27/6/2007, Colico, Italy
The wind came up today and went from sucky to alright and then back to sucky! Some riders took out there 14 and would be lit and underpowered in the same heat! I had so much luck in my heat I got to go out on a 9m2 and was stoked, but it was the first time again in a wetsuit and that wasn't a great success, I had my heat against Victor from Poland! The guy is ripping. My heat didn't go as I wanted it to go, but I guess I had some luck, cause I passed the heat. right after my heat the wind died and we called it a day! Tonight is the last night that Clinton and I sleep in a shitty bed, cause we're moving back to the hotel that we where in the first night!

First few days
27/6/2007, Colico, Italy
The first days where no wind and sun. It isn't as cold as I thought and a shorty would be enough, but I only brought 5/3 and 6/5/3 wetsuits. Yesterday we drove up the mountain with 2 cars, but right in the beginning our driver stalled out and we got split up. We ended up going onto an other mountain then them, but after some sketchy and small streets we made it to the top. The view was gorgeous. When we got back at the hotel we had diner and then the guys from the other car came in and they had a blast aswell, but this morning the had diarrhea after having some cheese on the top of the mountain. Today there is still no wind but we stay faithful and are hoping on some wind that will come up!

Trading the DR for Italy
24/6/2007, Colico, Italy
The last couple of days the DR treaded me pretty well with the wind. Even the last day, but I didn't go out cause I didn't wanted to get my stuff wet. After getting picked up by my bro from the airport... I stayed home for 1 day. Did some stuff I to do and went on.

This morning my dad dropped me off at the airport again and I went through checkin and only had to pay €30 so I was stoked. I met up with Clinton on the airport and we took the bus and train to Colico. It went all pretty smooth today no big hassles. We're here in a hotel 5 min. walk to the event area. When we where walking back from the event to the hotel we checked out a pizzaria till what time it stayed open and stuff and I looked at the event poster and it has me on it with a picture from last year... So I was super stoked.

Las Terrenas
17/6/2007, Las Terrenas, DR
I just got back from the PURA VIDA event in Las Terrenas. It was by far one of the best events I've been too. We went to a super sick 50 meter high waterfall and also went behind it and climbed it a bit and then jumped through the waterfall into the water. In the afternoon we went kiting in this virgin gorgeous place and had a lot of camera's pointed a sick slider and a Helicopter. The next morning started of easy with a nice breakfast. Then it got more interesting when the quads came out. We toured for the whole morning and got to see some beautiful places and just had super much fun.

In the afternoon the wind picked up again and we went out kiting. I didn't came of the water once... until we went downwind to the hotel. On the way there I crashed my kite and got dragged over the reef, but for the time being on it I don't have any thing... a couple of cuts on my hands and thats it. My kite doesn't have a scratch. Now I'm gonna walk across the street to the beach to see what kite I have to pump up to go kiting.

Pura Vida
14/6/2007, Las Terrenas
I got invited by Joseph Carneiro to go to Las Terrenas for a fun tour... We're gonna have photoshoots and film... there is gonna be a helicopter every day to make some sick shots! So I'm starting to pray for wind and we'll see what it brings...

Cabaretes first few days.
11/6/2007, Caberete, Dominican Republic
So far I kited twice... once on my 15m2 and once on my 9m2. Had some good sessions although it was super choppy... We also had some partying going on across where I live in this place called Onno's and that was pretty fun. Yesterday I bounched my head and got some blood going on. Nothing big but enough to keep me of the water for a day, but that day sucked any way, cause there where squalls coming in and taking the wind away... Today the wind is obviously gonna pick up like it always does and i'm going for a good training session

Arriving in the DR
8/6/2007, Caberete, Dominican Republic
Arriving in the DR.

I got dropped off at the airport by my bro and went to check in. I could take 2 bags of 23 kg. My boardbag was 31kg and my other bag was 17kg. So the lady behind the desk was like sorry it's to heavy. so you have to pay €50,-. I said ok but first i'll try and fit something in my other bag so I don't have to pay. When I was trying that. I was like its not going to fit, so I got back to the desk and was like... sorry I'll pay the €50,- so I can take 32kg, but then she said yes but it's sports equipment (that is free under 23kg) so you have to pay by kg overweight. 1 question... how does that work? if it's your normal bag you pay €50,- to take the same amount of weight, but if it's sports equipment you pay for every kg overweight. So I had to pay €240,-. I was like let me try to fit stuff in the other bag again... So I made it fit and I could take everything for free... When we touched down in Peurto Plata I got onto the bus to go Cabarete and here I am waiting for wind...

Back from Thailand
22/5/2007, Thailand
I just got back from Thailand and I can tell you... That place is sick. The people are super nice, but sometimes you need some patients to get what you really want. The photoshoot with the new Brunotti 2008 Summer clothing was sick. The group we went with was super fun. I couldn't stop laughing! We worked hard and we made long day's, but we've got some good results, so everybody was stoked.

This weekend is the KBO in Noordwijk and that is going to be sick!

Thailand Photoshoot
14/5/2007, Thailand
Tomorrow it's time to go to beautiful Thailand. It's gonna be a busy week with all the work there needs to be done, but it's also gonna be tonz of fun and I get to see the 2008 summer clothing already, super stoked! I hope I can keep you guys posted there. If not I'll make a report when I get back.

Last days
18/4/2007, Bonofacio, France
The last couple of days where super nice especially the very last day... it was 48 knots. so I was lit on my 7m2, but it was cool. The only thing you could do was go super High and it was fun! When we got dropped at the airport we thought we where super late, cause our plane left in 45 min. but when we got there the checkin wasn't even open yet. we had a short flight from Figari to Nice. We had to wait 8 hours in nice for our next plane. So we tried to reschedule to get an earlier flight, but everything was full already. When we finally sat down and chilled for a sec we saw that there where only 4 hours left. We went an hour on internet for €10,- and downloaded the last episode of prison break season 2. We watched it and when it finished we could check in. We waited some more after we gone through security and then finally we went on the plain. Only after 2.30 hours we touched down in Amsterdam and got picked up by my dad.

Little Corsica update
11/4/2007,
Monday was also a beautiful day. The only thing different with sunday was that there was no wind at all. So we just hit the little beach down the road and chilled there until the clouds moved in and it became cold.

When I woke up and looked out of the window the tries where moving. So after breakfast we took the car down to the beach and pumped up our 9m2. The wind was a lil up and down and going down. so we came back in to get our 12m2 and stayed out for another while and even the sun came through. When the wind dropped till the point where we almost couldn't stay upwind any more we went in to get dressed and get groceries for diner.

No wind easter weekend
9/4/2007, Bonofacio, France
Friday No wind, but lots of work to do around the house..and the kids are leaving. That makes such a difference. No screaming just rest... well rest almost...cause the house is almost done. it's beautiful weather and we're walking around in boardshorts and T-shirts. After scrubbing and cleaning I took a nice long shower and helped charlotte prepare dinner. Dinner was delicious and after dinner we played some poker again and I won ! It took not long before we hit the sheets after

Today is Saturday and it's another gorgeous day. We spend some time exploring the place and ended up on a golf course and discovered some sick cliffs for jumping into the water. When we got back we went in town to get some groceries for the weekend, had lunch and went back to the beach again. When we came back from the beach the sun was behind the clouds and it started to get a lil bit cold. After a nice warm shower. For dinner we had a nice home made cheeseburger and salad. We watched a episode from 24 and went to sleep.

Easter Sunday. At first it looked if there would be no wind today and it would be another gorgeous day with temperatures of 20C. Then some clouds where starting to come in and it started to thunder a lil bit farther, but we just drove to the other spot and there is was sunny, but the wind was super light, it was a go or not go situation. We thought well we're here now any way might as well pump up. So we pumped up a 16m2 and it kinda pulled but it wasn't really convincing, but Charlotte got my harness and board so I had to try it... I did my best not to get wet, cause I wasn't wearing a wetsuit. First couple of tacks I had to walk back upwind, but with every tack the wind increased. I started doing little tricks and of course crashed and got wet, but it wasn't as cold as I thought it to be. Derek went to put on his wetsuit and I gave him his kite back. I started to pump up my kite and went out too, this time with a wetsuit. I had super much fun until the wind died. So we packed up and went home. Charlotte was taking pictureswith Derek's camera, but he forgot the cable to the computer. We had a nice dinner. When we where done we watched TV a bit, but it was all in french. So after a while we went to our room to watch an episode of 24 and went to sleep.

Corsica update
6/4/2007, Bonofacio, France
Tuesday it rained all day... so we just chilled in the crib and did some games... when it finally stopped raining the wind picked up a lil and we loaded up the defender to go down to the kitespot. When we got there we got out to check the wind but it was a lil offshore and we could probably get out, but we could never get back no more and when that happens you arrive in Sardinia. So we drove back home and watched a couple episodes of 24 had dinner and finished the 24 episode.

No wind today and it didn't rain either so it was a better day then yesterday. We got some fresh air and went to the beach and went on a kinda own made discovery tour past rocks and stuff. We saw some nice cliff diving places, but the weather wasn't really up for it to try them already. So we went back without getting wet. People are still working on the house and they ran out of bleach so we drove down town to get a couple of bottles and came back. Like yesterday we did some games and enjoyed the view and like every evening there was a nice fire in the fireplace. After watching an episode of 24 we fell asleep.

During the night the wind picked up like crazy. So when we finished breakfast we went down to the beach and checked it out. It looked windy for my 7m2 so I pumped it up did 1 trick and came back in to take my 9m2. I was perfect on my 9m2, the sun was out so it wasn't even chilly and had a blast. After 2 and a half hour I was dead and went back in to get changed. When we got back we went down town to do some grocery shopping. I also helped around the house a bit and dumped the lil kids in the not cleaned pool, cause the where too enjoying.

Corsica
6/4/2007, Bonofacio, France
Friday was a whole day of being busy... We left Brussels to go home cause our plane left from Amsterdam and when we got home we had to leave in half an hour again to go to SONY to pick up a cam before they closed. Of course it was full rush hour so we hit some traffic. After we picked up the cam we had to get my board like an hour away but traffic was still on. When we finally got home from that all. We had a lovely diner at my moms place. When we got home from that we only had like an other half an hour to get ready to go party. It was fun but we left early cause we wanted to get a lil bit of sleep.

Alarms were going off 2 hours later at 5:00 am cause we had to be at the airport at 6. At the check-in of course we got shizz for our boardbags and we had to pay for them... we got a pretty good deal eventually. First we had to pay €380... So that was more then what we paid for our tickets combined. After a lil bit slick talking. We got it down to €140,-. Stoked and we went on with the travel. After taking off we where in the air for 40 min and we went down already... Right when you getting comfy. So we touched down in Paris. Super cool to be there and stoked to go on with the trip. After Paris there was Marseille and then we finally got down in Figari. We got all of our bags in so we where stoked. After we got picked up we had about a half an hour drive to the house in Bonifacio, but first we had to stop at the supermarket to pick up the groceries. When we got to the house my mouth fell open. It's one of them houses you see on MTV cribs... Because he just bought this house we had to do some work like moving the furniture in and exploring a bit. The view from about every room is right on the kite spot and it's unbelievably gorgeous! After we moved our bed in the room and had dinner we went to sleep.

April Fools morning we woke up pretty early. I don't know why cause we where both really tired. After having breakfast and some chilling the wind was blowing sweet. The wind made it a lil bit chilly, but it was doable. We drove down to the beach to go kiting. I went out with my 9m2 and it was a perfect size. The only thing was I was so tired from the days before that I didn't really had NRG to do any thing big and I also had to get a lil used to my new board, but all by all I had an ok session. After we had a nice dinner we took out the poker game too gamble a bit. For me was the first time playing and I was winning till 1 o'clock and then I still lost... But it was a cool game and a sweet experience.

We woke up around 10ish. Had breakfast and chilled a bit the whole morning. We had to go down town to get some stuff from the supermarket. We took the motorbike and enjoyed the pretty ride down to Bonifacio. Got what we came for and went back up to the house... Where the lunch was served. At around 3 we got down to the beach to get some kiting down. I had a super nice session on my 7m2 and killed it when my leash hit my face in a trick and it started to bleed a bit. I was done any way after a killing session for 2 hours. So I went in and got ready to go back to the house to take a nice warm shower. After another delicious meal we hit the sheets...

Last Days
7/2/2007, All over the place
The wind finally picked up and we drove down east to go to the Ritz. It wasn't as strong as we thought it was, but I took my 12m2 and was powered enough to stay upwind but not powered enough to do a trick. I went in for my 15m2 and when I went out on that I was lit so I went to switch to my 12m2 again. I was perfect until the wind decided to quit on us. While we were packing a ton of guests from the hotel came to ask all kinds of questions. After we answered about all of them we went back home.

The next morning the wind picked up lot and we went with the Bertram to an other small Island called "Sandy spit". After we cleared customs we closed the valves on our kites and peddled them in on a long board. I pumped my 9m2 and was perfect for a while until the current changed. Only Madi could still go on the long board and his 10m2. So we just chilled there eat some food we brought and packed up he boat to go back. Madi kited to the next island and thats where we picked him up.

On Super Bowl Sunday the wind was perfect in the lagoon. So we went there for our last session. It was a lil sketchy launch, but once your out it was perfect for my 9m2. I had a good time, but with tricks I didn't really have my day. The only thing I could do where kiteloop handle passes. Jacky and Jon where catching dinner while we were kiting. Once we were all done kiting we packed up and went back home. For diner there where the yummy fresh lobsters Jacky and Jon caught. During dinner the Super Bowl started and we watched it. When we were done we all fell fast asleep.

The next morning was packing and saying good bye. The flight leaving from St Thomas was 2 hours late and we would miss our connection in New York. So we changed it at the checkin to St Thomas -> New York -> London -> Brussels. So we got our tickets and on two of my tickets where SSSS. So in St Thomas I got an secondary security check. So they fully checked me out. I gave my bag to 1 of the other guys, so they didn't had to go through that and safe some time. All was good and I could walk on. So we got into the flight and landed in New York a couple of hours later. We came out of the gate and we checked what was up... Guess what... the plane we thought we would never make was still there, so we checked if we could go in there instead, but we had to follow our luggage. So instead of going straight to Brussels we took a D tour through London. We went to Starbucks to get something to drink and went on to our next gate. Half way down to the gate we heard our names for the final call. So we started sprinting. We had to go through security again and I had an other ticket with SSSS on it. So I got an other secondary check. But this time I had my bag on me. So the other guys where already through and went to stop the plane. The check only took a couple of minutes, but seems for ever. Once I cleared I sprinted with my every thing in my hands to the gate. I made it so I got on the plane and it was so funny all the people where looking very unhappy at me. I could care less so I got to my seat. The whole flight was perfect, cause we had a pretty new plane with a screen in the seat infront of you. we even had a phone to make way to expansive calls. So we touched down in London and went to the next gate... When they started boarding it was our turn and they said the tickets where not valid. So we sprinted down to the ticket counter and got send up to the gate and all was good. We got to our final destination Brussels. With all that running and sprinting we did I didn't think out bags would make it, but I was wrong. We got all our bags and went outside where my girl was waiting for me.

Surfs Up
1/2/2007, VI
Last couple of days the surf was definitely up. We surfed every day. I'v been worked and pounded by the biggest waves I have seen in real life... With my not so long surfing experience the 14ft faces where a lil bit to big for me. I was trying to catch some, but I just got worked and worked by those monsters. But I kept trying. The good thing is I won't be that scared of big waves any more and my duck diving skills got a lot better, although failed a couple of times what causes me to get dragged in all the way and I had a nice 30 min peddle to get back out! I'm lovin it. But that was only 2 days that it was that big. The rest I just rode those babies like sugar. To morrow the wind is suppose to pick up so hoping to get some nice kiting time before I leave!!
